Visual identity for Djavan's melody

One of the icons of Brazilian music, Djavan is part of the national imagination and there's hardly anyone who can't hum one of his lyrics, known for their sonic constructions full of curious metaphors.

VESUVIUS: CONTRAST AND LIGHT ON AN ALBUM COVER

Vesúvio, the musician's 24th album, features 13 songs marked by love, politics and the power of nature. And the cover shows Djavan in a way never seen before.

"By painting Djavan black and photographing him against a black background, with his dreads attached, his silhouette, one of Brazil's best-known, at the same time as being camouflaged, makes us pay even more attention to his features and individuality, and we even notice his blue eyes, an inheritance from his father."

"The gold details make a visual analogy to the album's title, Vesuvius, where the artist emerges from a pitch-black background, like a volcano emerges from the earth and overflows, in an illuminated and brilliant lava like our gold," adds Emilio.

THE VESUVIUS CLIPS

To launch the album, the single and music video for Solitude, made in partnership with 6D, was released.

At the same time as the aesthetic dialogues with the album's title, it also speaks very well to the song's theme and message.

"Solitude talks about a bad scenario we're living through, in politics and in society, and ends with a message of pro-activity: let's do something now, take action. We represent this in the clip through lights and colors. It starts out very dark and then turns bright and colorful, representing this transition from a dark moment to a moment of light, of hope. It's a strong and provocative aesthetic, with close-ups and superimpositions of Djavan himself, who is sometimes the protagonist and the backdrop. To share the directing duties, we invited Pablo Baião, our partner and a great director of photography and cinema. The make-up was done by Joana Seibel, with cosmetics developed naturally and by hand by Carol Cronemberger," says Emilio.

The clip has already passed 1 million views on YouTube.

VESUVIUS: ANALOGY TO THE MOVEMENTS OF A RELATIONSHIP.

The song, which bears the same name as the album, talks about the rhythm of the relationship between two people and its dynamics, sometimes closer, sometimes not so close. The sea appears to represent this dance and the clip brings a visual analogy of this movement, without being literal.

"In Vesuvius, we present two environments: in one, neutral, is Djavan and, in the other, we see a dancer, in red, who, with fluid movements, makes an analogy to the sun and the sea. For the choreography, we called in two movement directors with years of experience in contemporary dance, Marina Fernanda Cavalcante and Ana Paula Marques.

One of Djavan's passions is architecture and we brought that to the music video. We filmed at Caminho Niemeyer, in Niterói, and the modern, minimalist architecture creates graphics that translate into interesting backdrops, which in turn also serve as screen divisions, creating this sensation of two environments."
