Visual identity for Djavan's melody

One of the icons of Brazilian music, Djavan is part of the national imagination and it's hard to find anyone who doesn't know how to hum some of his lyrics, known for their sound constructions full of curious metaphors.

VESUVIUS: CONTRAST AND LIGHT ON ALBUM COVER

Vesúvio, the musician's 24th album, features 13 songs marked by love, politics, and the power of nature. And the cover features Djavan in a way never seen before.

“By painting Djavan black and photographing him against a black background, with his dreadlocks tied back, his silhouette, one of the most recognizable in Brazil, while camouflaged, makes us pay even more attention to his features and individuality, even noticing his blue eyes, inherited from his father.”

“The gold details create a visual analogy to the album’s title, Vesuvius, where the artist emerges from a pitch-black background, like a volcano emerging from the earth and overflowing, in a lava that is illuminated and bright like our gold,” adds Emilio.

THE CLIPS OF VESUVIUS

To debut the album, the single and video for Solitude were released, made in partnership with 6D.

While the aesthetics speak to the album's title, they also speak very well to the song's theme and message.

"Solitude speaks to the dire situation we're experiencing in politics and society, and ends with a message of proactivity: let's act now, take action. We represent this in the music video through light and color. It begins in pitch black, very dark, and gradually transforms into bright and colorful, representing this transition from a dark moment to a moment of light and hope. It's a strong and provocative aesthetic, featuring close-ups and overlays of Djavan himself, who at times acts as both protagonist and backdrop. To co-direct, we invited our partner and renowned cinematographer and filmmaker Pablo Baião. The makeup is by Joana Seibel, with cosmetics developed naturally and handcrafted by Carol Cronemberger," says Emilio.

The clip has already surpassed 1 million views on YouTube.

VESUVIUS: ANALOGY TO THE MOVEMENTS OF A RELATIONSHIP.

The song, which shares the same name as the album, speaks of the rhythm of a relationship between two people and its dynamic, sometimes close, sometimes not so much. The sea represents this dance, and the music video provides a visual analogy to this movement, without being literal.

"In Vesúvio, we present two environments: in one, neutral, is Djavan, and in the other, we see a ballerina, dressed in red, whose fluid movements create an analogy between the sun and the sea. For the choreography, we hired two movement directors with years of experience in contemporary dance: Marina Fernanda Cavalcante and Ana Paula Marques.

One of Djavan's passions is architecture, and we brought that to the music video as well. We filmed at Caminho Niemeyer in Niterói, and the modern, minimalist architecture creates graphics that translate into interesting settings, which, in turn, also serve as screen dividers, creating the sensation of two environments."
